Caring for Anthurium veitchii

Caring for your Anthurium veitchii is a rewarding endeavor that can be simplified with a few key steps. Place your Anthurium in bright, indirect light, avoiding direct sun exposure. Keep the soil consistently moist but not waterlogged, allowing the top inch to dry out between waterings. To enhance humidity, use a humidity tray or place plants near a humidifier. Fertilize every 4-6 weeks during the growing season with a balanced liquid fertilizer. Prune dead or yellowing leaves and wipe the glossy foliage to maintain its shine.

Medium Indirect light

Anthurium veitchii loves bright spaces with medium indirect light. It can also tolerate lower light conditions but should be kept away from direct sunlight to prevent burning.

Frequent watering

Give Anthurium veitchii a full watering when the top 2" of soil is dry to your finger. Anthurium veitchii likes to be consistently moist but never waterlogged.

High humidity

About the genus

About Anthurium

Anthurium comprises approximately 1000 species of flowering plants, making it the largest genus in the Araceae family (informally known as Aroids). Commonly called "flamingo flower" or "laceleaf," these plants originated from the Americas and can be found from northern Mexico to northern Argentina, as well as some parts of the Caribbean.

Many anthurium species, like other aroids, can be cultivated indoors as houseplants or placed outdoors in mild climates with ample shade. Noteworthy examples are anthurium crystallinum and anthurium clarinervium, both featuring sizeable, soft, dark green leaves with silvery white veining.

Because anthurium can bloom effectively indoors, hybridization has become popular, allowing for many different hybrids to become available.
