Care guide

Caring for Monstera deliciosa 'Thai Constellation'

Monstera deliciosa 'Thai Constellation' care involves indirect light, moderate humidity, and moderate watering. Young plants typically have solid leaves and the fenestrations begin to develop as the plant matures. Propagation of Monstera deliciosa 'Thai Constellation' plants can be done through stem cuttings, where a section of a mature stem with a node taken and placed in water or soil until roots develop. You can also propagate Monstera deliciosa 'Thai Constellation' via air layering, where a dormant node is encouraged to root while still attached to the parent plant.

Due to it's delicate variegation, the leaves on Monstera deliciosa 'Thai Constellation' are prone to burning. Keep 'Thai Constellation' out of direct sunlight but make sure it gets a good amount of indirect light to keep the variegation strong.

Bright indirect light

Monstera deliciosa 'Thai Constellation' likes consistently bright indirect light. Think of placing it near a south-facing window but make sure it never receives direct light which can cause Monstera deliciosa 'Thai Constellation' to burn.

Moderate watering

Water Monstera deliciosa 'Thai Constellation' when the top half of the soil is dry to your finger. Give Monstera deliciosa 'Thai Constellation' a full soak until water drains out the bottom of the pot.

Average 40-60% humidity

Monstera deliciosa 'Thai Constellation' thrives in average household humidity between 40 and 60%. A humidifier may be required in the dryer winter months -- keep a lookout for crispy leaves.

Fertilize Every 4-6 weeks

During its active growing season (spring to early fall), fertilize Monstera deliciosa 'Thai Constellation' with a balanced, water-soluble houseplant fertilizer as instructed. Apply the solution to well-watered soil, avoiding foliage contact. Fertilize every 4-6 weeks, reducing or pausing in winter. Watch for signs of over-fertilization, adjusting the routine if needed.

Propagate by Stem Cutting

Propagate Monstera deliciosa 'Thai Constellation' by stem cutting: take cutting from a healthy stem that includes a node and at least one leaf. Place the cutting in damp substrate or water, ensuring the node is covered. Remove the bottom leaves to prevent any from sitting under the surface. Replace the water weekly and or keep the substrate moist until the plant begins to root.

About the genus

About Monstera

The Monstera genus, part of the Araceae (Aroid) family, is comprised of 59 species of plants native to the tropical regions of America. Monstera, particularly the ever-popular Monstera deliciosa, are popular as ornamentals indoors and outdoors due to their unmistakable fenestrated foliage.

In nature monstera are considered hemiepiphytes, where they spend part of their lifespan as rooted vines and eventually climb their way up to the forest canopy where they can continue to survive independent from the soil below.

Besides Monstera deliciosa, popular varieties include Monstera adansonii, Monstera siltepecana, and Monstera karstenianum 'Peru'.
