Care guide

Caring for Aglaonema 'Cutlass'

Aglaonema 'Cutlass' can tolerate everything from low-light conditions to spaces with bright indirect light. Aglaonema 'Cutlass' should be protected from direct sunlight, however, which can scorch its leaves. They prefer to live in consistently moist but not waterlogged soil, so we recommend letting the top inch or two of soil to dry out between waterings. Aglaonema 'Cutlass' should begin to droop when it needs water, but if the leaves droop and turn yellow you may be looking at an overwatering issue.

Aglaonema in general are very sensitive to the cold and are susceptible to cold damage beginning at 15Β°C. We recommend protecting Aglaonema 'Cutlass' from drafts, especially in the winter.

Propagate Aglaonema 'Cutlass' by stem cutting or the division of established plants.

Low light light

Aglaonema 'Cutlass' can handle low light conditions and can thrive placed in a room with east or west facing windows. Remember that low-light doesn't mean no-light and just because Aglaonema 'Cutlass' is shade loving, it doesn't mean that it won't enjoy some medium indirect light now and again.

Frequent watering

Give Aglaonema 'Cutlass' a full watering when the top 2" of soil is dry to your finger. Aglaonema 'Cutlass' likes to be consistently moist but never waterlogged.

Average 40-60% humidity

Aglaonema 'Cutlass' thrives in average household humidity between 40 and 60%. A humidifier may be required in the dryer winter months -- keep a lookout for crispy leaves.

Fertilize Every 4-6 weeks

During its active growing season (spring to early fall), fertilize Aglaonema 'Cutlass' with a balanced, water-soluble houseplant fertilizer as instructed. Apply the solution to well-watered soil, avoiding foliage contact. Fertilize every 4-6 weeks, reducing or pausing in winter. Watch for signs of over-fertilization, adjusting the routine if needed.

About the genus

About Aglaonema

Aglaonema, commonly referred to as Chinese Evergreen, is a genus of ornamental plants in the Araceae (Aroid) family. Native to tropical and subtropical regions of Asia, these plants are popular choices for indoor decor due to their attractive foliage, ease of care, and adaptability to various light conditions.

Aglaonema are characterized by their lance-shaped or elliptical leaves that come in a variety of colors and patterns, including shades of green, silver, red, and pink.

One of the key benefits of Aglaonema plants is their ability to tolerate low light conditions, making them well-suited for offices or homes with limited natural sunlight.

Aglaonema plants have air-purifying properties, and they can help filter indoor air by removing toxins, making them a popular choice for improving indoor air quality.
